SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet tomorrow night at City Hall.
The council’s work session will begin at 4:00 and be followed by the official meeting.
The work session’s primary focus will be interviewing three candidates for the upcoming appointment to the SCS Board of Education. Steve Marlowe, Willie Kidd and Ryan Coleman are the three that will be interviewed over the phone during the work session. Marlowe currently sits serves as a member of the BOE.
- Resolution 38-2020 amending Resolution 57-2018 – procedures for board appointments.
- Resolution 39-2020 in support of CVMC’s request to legislature for re-allocation of unused bridge funds.
- Resolution 40-2020 authorizing engineering contract with Barge Design Solutions for Airport Project Rehab Taxiway Lighting #3-01-0068-02302020 in the amount of $86,650.
- Action necessary to authorize Code Department to issue and enforce ROW-use permits and to use outside engineering for related technical services when needed.
- Action necessary to approve request from AT&T for ROW permit to provide service access to a new business located in the 200 block of North Broadway.
- Action necessary to authorize City Attorney to prepare resolution asking for AG opinion regarding clarification of eligibility requirements of firefighter critical illness and LTD benefits.
- Approval of premium payment to Alabama First Responders Benefits Association Group Enhanced Critical Illness and LTD Plan for the 2020 calendar year of $4,163.04. Due to insurance company adjustment of eligibility roster (approved by Resolution 34-2020 May 5, 2020, this action replaces approval granted Dec. 17, 2019 for estimated premium payment of $5,034.96).
- Authorization to reimburse Firefighter Matthew Stivers $198.24 for premium fully paid by employee for the Enhanced Critical Illness and LTD Plan.
- Authorization to refund $35.28 to the Sylacauga Fireman’s Fund for payment of employee portion of premiums for three P/T firefighters removed from the 2020 invoice by the insurance company
- Request from Police Chief Kelley Johnson to contract with CE Electrical Services for electrical services at Firing Range in the amount of $2,320 (Chief Johnson to discuss improvements at the firing range during WS).
- Approve increase in travel/expenses for new PD recruit Robert Aaron Osbourn for attendance at the NE Al Police Academy tuition from $250 to $1,000 (from $1300 to $500 reimbursement after successful completion) and meals and lodging from $1,800 to $3,800. Osbourn was able to enroll in the academy beginning June 1 due to a cancellation.
- Approve travel/expenses for PD Lt. Willis Whatley to attend CLEEP training – “Community Policing” on June 11 and “When Good Cops Go Bad” on June 12 in Jacksonville. Registration fee is $99 per course. Whatley will carpool with Cummings in a city-provided vehicle. Estimated total expenses for Whatley is $198.
- Approve travel/expenses for PD. Lt. Renea Cummings to attend CLEEP training – “Community Policing” on June 11 and “When Good Cops Go Bad” on June 12 in Jacksonville. Registration fee is $99 per course. Cummings will carpool with Whatley in a city-provided vehicle. Estimated total expenses for Cummings is $198.
- Accounts Payable received to date for May in the amount of $70,958.07.
