Sylacauga City Council proposed agenda – July 2, 2019

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet on Tuesday, July 2, at Sylacauga City Hall.

The following items are on the agenda:

  • Public hearing to hear request from Barinowski Investment to install a cell tower at 395 Alabama Avenue (public hearing set by Resolution 33-2019 6-4-19).  Resolution 40-2019 required.
  • Resolution 41-2019 declaring 1997 Ford Louisville Dump Truck, S/N 1FDWN80E0VVA34693 as surplus property and authorizing for sale on GovDeals.com., as requested by Street Supt. Reed Calfee.
  • Resolution authorizing contract for professional services relative to design work for paving and improvements to James Payton Blvd, if ready (awaiting traffic counts from ALDOT per M. Rice).
  • Authorize Engineering Design Technologies, Inc. to provide an assessment of the Food World Building at a fee not to exceed $9,600, and authorizing Mayor Heigl to sign any required documents.
  • Request from Fire Chief Adam Gardner to hire Chad Toland, currently a P/T firefighter, as a F/T firefighter effective July 6, 2019 at Grade 1, Step 2, $12.75 per hour.
  • Appointment of Kay Jennings to the IDB filling a 2019 vacancy (former slot held by Reagan Rumsey) for a six-year term.
  • Approve travel/expenses for Police Chief Kelley Johnson to attend the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police Summer Conference in Orange Beach July 28-August 1, 2019.  Registration fee is $200.00.  Additional expenses for meals, lodging, and fuel reimbursement will be incurred.  Total estimated expenses for Johnson are $1,236.48.
  • Approve travel/expenses for PD Investigator Chris Vinson to attend the Behavioral Analysis Interview Techniques training course at the Birmingham Police Academy July 22-24, 2019.  No registration fee; expenses for meals will be incurred, as well as the use of a City vehicle.  Total estimated expenses for Vinson are $75.
  • Accounts Payable invoices received to date for June in the amount of $70,453.13.
