[WATCH] Sylacauga City Council approves modifications to T-Mobile tower

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met tonight, Jan. 6, at 5:30 p.m. with a work session prior at 5:00 p.m.

The council authorized a special use permit for T-Mobile Wireless to modify old equipment on the existing tower at 105 E. Second Street.

The following agenda items were also addressed by the council:

Accepted new electrical services in the rear parking lot of the 100 block of North Broadway Avenue, completed as part of the 2018-2019 TAP projects, and authorization to assume monthly charges from Sylacauga Utilities Board.

The council approved payment in the amount of $2,750 to EEFS for preparation of ATRIP II application (SR-21 widening).

Approval was given for travel/training expenses for Fire Chief Nate Osgood to attend Fire/Rescue Peer Support Training in Montgomery, Jan. 10-13, 2022.  No registration fee; expenses for meals will be incurred.  Total estimated expenses for Osgood of $45.

Approved travel/training expenses for Firefighter Caleb Williams to attend Fire Investigator I training in Anniston, Jan. 24-28, 2022.  No registration fee; expenses for meals will be incurred and use of a city-provided vehicle.  Total estimated expenses for Williams of $75.

Approved travel/training expenses for Firefighter Chad Toland to attend the Fire Investigator II training in Anniston, Feb. 7-11, 2022.  Registration fee of $330, estimated meal expense of $75.  Total estimated expenses for Toland of $405.

Approved of additional FY21 accounts payable invoices received in the amount of $70,599.14.

The council approved of accounts payable invoices received to date for December in the amount of $101,613.87.

Approved resolution authorizing application to ALDOT for Rebuild Alabama Act grant funds in the amount of $250,000 to replace bridge on Walnut Road.

The council authorized repairs to tennis court lights at Beth Yates Park by CE Electrical Services at a cost of $10,580.

The council approved travel/training expenses for PD Investigator Willis Whatley to attend the following CLEEP training to be held in Dothan, Jan. 13-14, 2022: Building a Culture of Flexibility for Change Leadership on Jan. 13, and Leadership Influence: Developing Your Emotional Intelligence on Jan. 14. Registration fee of $99 per course; additional expenses for lodging, meals, and fuel will be incurred.  Total estimated expenses for Whatley are $671.74.
