SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet tonight for the second meeting of 2020.
The council will hold a work session at 5:00. Here is the council’s work session agenda:
- Discussion of FY20 capital requests.
- Discussion of request from Marble Festival for $5,000 sponsorship.
- Discussion of required changes to Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance (required by March 6, 2020).
- Discussion of notice from Republic Services for rate increase effective April 1, 2020, due to CPI.
Approximately 15 minutes after the work session, the council will have its meeting in the council chamber. Here is the proposed agenda:
- Ordinance 2217-20 declaring one firefighting helmet/shield and badge as surplus property and authorize presentation to Fire Chief Adam Gardner upon his retirement.
- Resolution 04-2020 requesting assistance from the State Legislature for annexation non-contiguous properties into the city limits.
- Recommendation from HR Specialist Jayne McGee to enter into contract with Employment Screening Services, Inc. for drug screening services, and allowing Mayor to sign required documents.
- Request from Alabama Department of Revenue, Property Tax Division, to refund $56.27, paid to the City as property tax litigation on Parcel # 612704204003007004 on Nov. 26, 2019. Sale to State was cancelled.
- Change of status for PD Sergeant Kelly White from PS-1-7 at $20.30/hr to PS-1-9 at $21.48/hr for night shift incentive as interim sergeant on B1 shift. (need effective date from HR).
- Approve travel/expenses for HR Specialist Jayne McGee to attend the EDAA Leadership Institute Essentials of Economic Development in Scottsboro Feb. 6, 2020. Registration fee is $95. Additional expenses for mileage will be incurred. Total estimated expenses for McGee is $242.32.
- Approve travel/expenses for PD Officer Curt Looney to attend Evaluating Truthfulness and Detecting Deception through Nonverbal Behavior courses on Jan. 22-23, 2020 in Jacksonville, Alabama. No registration fee, and the only expense will be the use of a city vehicle.
- Approve travel/expenses for PD Office Austin Pitts to attend Evaluating Truthfulness and Detecting Deception through Nonverbal Behavior courses on Jan. 22-23, 2020 in Jacksonville, Alabama. No registration fee, and the only expense will be the use of a city vehicle.
- Approve travel/expenses for Interim Director of Code Enforcement Mike Whetstone to attend the Al Association of Plumbing, Gas, & Mechanical Inspectors 57th Annual Educational Conference in Auburn April 1-3, 2020. Registration fee is $150. No additional expense other than use of a city vehicle will be incurred. Total estimated expense for Whetstone is $150. Whetstone and Sayers will carpool.
- Approve travel/expenses for P/T Code Inspector Wayne Sayers to attend the Al Association of Plumbing, Gas, & Mechanical Inspectors 57th Annual Educational Conference in Auburn April 1-3, 2020. Registration fee is $150. No additional expense other than use of a city vehicle will be incurred. Total estimated expense for Sayers is $150.00. Sayers and Whetstone will carpool.
- Balance of Accounts Payable for December in the amount of $267,437.62.
- December payroll in the amount of $437,237.63.
