SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will hold its second scheduled meeting for the month of April on Tuesday, April 17.
The following items are on the Council’s agenda:
- Ordinance 2196-18 authorizing City participation in Back-to School Sales Tax holiday scheduled for July 20-22, 2018.
- Resolution 19-2018 authorizing Road Resurfacing Agreement between City and Talladega County Commission to include that segment of Avondale Avenue outside the city limits of Sylacauga as part of the COS 2018 Street Paving Project, with cost of work to be reimbursed by County.
- Resolution 22-2018 authorizing purchase of Transportation van through East Alabama Regional Planning & Development Commission from ALDOT. Grant purchase requires a 20 percent match (approximately $11,200 of cost is $56,000).
- Resolution 23-2018 setting date for public hearing concerning rezoning of property owned by Heritage South Credit Union on North Norton Avenue (adjacent to 908 North Norton Avenue) from R-2 to B-1. (first available date for public hearing is 6-5-18).
- Appointment to Historical Commission – three-year term of Linda Dickson expired March, 2018.
- Appointment to Historical Commission – three-year term of Scott Smith expired March, 2018.
- Appointment to Historical Commission – three-year term of James Green expired March, 2018.
- Approve expenses for Court Magistrate Melanie Allen to attend the Municipal Magistrate Maintenance class in Montgomery on June 1, 2018. Registration fee is $50. An additional expense for mileage will be incurred. Estimated expenses for Allen are $125.
- Approve expenses for Court Magistrate Wendy Mickler to attend the Municipal Magistrate Maintenance class in Montgomery on June 1, 2018. Registration fee is $50. Estimated expense for Mickler is $50. (Allen and Mickler will be carpooling).
- Approve expenses for Court Magistrate Melanie Bice to attend the Municipal Magistrate Maintenance class in Montgomery on Dec. 7, 2018. Registration fee is $50. An additional expense for mileage will be incurred. Estimated expenses for Bice are $125.
- Approve expenses for Court Magistrate Krissy King to attend the Municipal Magistrate Maintenance class in Montgomery on December 7, 2018. Registration fee is $50.00. Estimated expense for King is $50. (Bice and King will be carpooling).
- Balance of Accounts Payable for March in the amount of $193,479.68.
- March payroll in the amount of $378,440.62.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Hall. A work session will precede the meeting in the mayor’s chambers at 4 p.m.. The public is invited to attend both sessions.
