SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 15, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. following a work session at 5:00 p.m.
The following agenda items will be addressed:
1. Appoint a new Interim City Clerk-Treasurer for the City of Sylacauga.
2. Public Hearing for rezoning of properties at 966 – 1184 Sylacauga Fayetteville Hwy, Sylacauga, AL 35151, zoned M-1 (Light Industry) to M-2 (General Industry).
3. Public Hearing for annexing of property located at 245 Village St., Talladega, AL, 35160, zoned AG-1 (Residential-Agricultural District).
4. Designate financial signatories for the City of Sylacauga.
5. Authorize Mayor Jim Heigl to sign an agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for installation and maintenance of public safety sensors on highway rights-of-way.
6. Authorize Mayor Heigl to sign K-9 agreement between the City of Sylacauga and Corporal William Lamar Taylor.
7. Approve $25,000 budget increase for Fire Department Employee Expense line item for the purchase of six additional sets of turnout gear. (GL 010-530-42518-000 – Funding provided from General Fund)
8. Approve quote received from McLain Construction Company for upgrades to Fire Station 1 and 2 for $90,668.75. (Capital Improvements Fund – Public Works bid threshold is $100,000)
9. Approve payment for legal statements received from Alexander Hyde for January and February 2025, totaling $30,638.
10. Appoint five Board Members to the Industrial Development Board for six-year terms ending in April 2031.
11. Read into the minutes Mayor Heigl’s reappointment of Matt Hubbard to the Sylacauga Housing Authority for a term ending on Feb. 3, 2030. (No Council action needed)
12. Approve Fiscal Year 2025 Accounts Payable invoices, totaling $1,126,043.43.
