SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met on Tuesday, Oct. 21 following a work session which began at 4:45 p.m.
At the meeting, Mayor Jim Heigl addressed the city council with a farewell speech at the start of the meeting. He also thanked council members Lee Perryman and Ashton Fowler for their years of service and dedication to the city.
John Ham was reappointed to the Library Board for a three year term expiring Oct. 2028.
Dr. Stephen Bowen was reappointed to the Sylacauga Healthcare Authority for a six year term expiring Aug. 2031.
A budget amendment in the amount of $208,485.10 for Nuisance and Abatement was approved. (Pulled from Captial Fund)
The council approved the refund of Permit #1871 in the amount of $79.57 to Sleeping Giant for work not performed.
Approval was granted for 050 – Retail Beer (Off Premises only), 070 – Retail Table Wine (Off Premises only), 011 – Lounge Retail Liquor – Class II (Package), and 990 – Tobacco Only licenses for PS Mini Mart LLC located at 815 W 4th St.
Accounts Payable invoices for FY2025 in the amount of $1,101,406.32 and for FY2026 in the amount of $118,382.82 were both approved.
The next Sylacauga City Council meeting, where new Mayor Dr. Matt Hubbard and new council members Greer Wright Bisignani and Tim Vincent will be sworn in, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
