SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met on Thursday, Nov. 6, following a work session which began at 5:00 p.m.
At the meeting, Angel Harris was reappointed to the Historical Commission for a three-year term ending March 2028.
The appointment of Baylee McDonald as a Public Defender in the Sylacauga Municipal Court for a four-year term, running concurrently with the current elected officials, was ratified.
Approval was granted for funding, not to exceed $50,000, for Sylacauga Parks and Recreation to provide a temporary ice-skating rink at Central Park.
Mayor Dr. Matt Hubbard was authorized to sign a consulting agreement with John Ham as a financial consultant to the City for the period of Nov. 7, 2025 to Dec. 31, 2025 at a cost of $35,000 to be made in two monthly payments from Unused Salaries.
The council approved a 90-day extension for a current temporary employee at the Sylacauga Animal Shelter.
The following City vehicles were declared as surplus to requirements:

The city council declared eight Canon copiers and one HP printer as surplus to requirements and authorized the sale of said copiers and printer.
Accounts Payable invoices for FY2025 in the amount of $235,131.04 and Accounts Payable invoices for FY2026 in the amount of $80,913.69 were both approved.
The next Sylacauga City Council work session and meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, starting at 4:30 p.m.
