Sylacauga City Council meeting – May 6, 2025

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met on Tuesday night, May 6, at 6:00 p.m. following a work session which began at 5:00 p.m.

At the meeting, the city council approved a $15,930 budget amendment, transitioning money from Other | Professional Fees (010-511-41580-000) to Legal Fees and Expense (010-511-41540-000).

The council approved the invoice balance for Alexander Hyde totaling $15,467.70 for a budget amendment, also from Other | Professional Fees (010-511-41580-000) to Legal Fees and Expense (010-511-41540-000).

Authorization was granted for Mayor Jim Heigl to sign Engineering Agreement with EE&FS for the Lake Louise bridge replacement project, not to exceed $60,000.

Mayor Heigl was also granted authorization to sign a Working Agreement between Talladega County, the Talladega County Board of Registrars, and the City of Sylacauga to provide for the most efficient methods for municipal elections.

A third authorization for Mayor Heigl was passed for him to sign a Geotechnical Engineering agreement to provide subsurface investigation for the Sylacauga Pickleball Court in the amount of $6,300.

Fiscal Year 2025 Accounts Payable invoices, totaling $764,964.05, and the April 2025 payroll, totaling $520,865.66, were both approved as well by the city council.

The next meeting of the Sylacauga City Council is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 20, at 6:00 p.m.
