SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met on Tuesday, June 17, following a work session which began at 5:00 p.m.
At the meeting, the city council appointed Heather Adair to the Board of Education for five years with her term ending in June 2030.
A public hearing date was set for July 15 for the road closure request submitted for Programmable Logic Consultants, LLC to vacate portions of Merkel Ave.
The council approved the use of Marble City Cemetery Funds for installation of a flagpole at Bill Nichols’ headstone at a cost of $7,284.50.
Taylor Pharr was reappointed as the city’s Presiding Municipal Judge for a new two-year term ending July 2027.
Approval was granted for the immediate payment of current credit card bills at a total cost of $6,760.85.
The city council approved the use of SPOT transportation vehicles to shuttle guests from the Isabel Anderson Comer Museum and Arts Center to the East Alabama Rural Innovation and Training Hub on June 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Sylacauga Police Chief Rondell Muse was reimbursed $1,000 after he self-covered a bond payment.
Additionally, they approved May through June 2025 Accounts Payable in the amount of $697,311.64 as well as the May 2025 payroll in the amount of $524,651.18.
The next Sylacauga City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, at 6:00 p.m.
