SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met on Tuesday night, Dec. 16, following a work session which started at 5:00 p.m.
At the meeting, the city council ratified the prior approval from an agenda item at the Nov. 6, 2025 council meeting, declaring eight Canon copiers and one HP printer as surplus to requirements and authorizing their disposal by auction, transfer, or other appropriate disposition.
Also ratified from the aforementioned November council meeting were agenda items which declared five City vehicles as surplus to requirements and approved their disposal by auction, transfer, or other appropriate disposition.
The council declared 12 recorders and 16 cameras from the Sylacauga Police Department as surplus to requirements and authorized the disposal of said items.
Instead of disposing, the city council declared six Taser X26Ps, six holsters, 12 Taser cartridges, and 12 Taser batteries from the Sylacauga Police Department as surplus to requirements and donate them to Central Alabama Community College’s Police Department.
All of the outdated public safety radio equipment and inventory located at 207 Hillside Dr. was decommissioned and transferred to the Sylacauga Utilities Board for disposal.
The council continued its consulting agreement with John P. Ham for professional financial services for the 2026 calendar year.
SAFE was authorized to use transportation vans for the Tour of Lights occurring outside the contracted period.
The council approved Fiscal Year 2025 Accounts Payable invoices in the amount of $10,032.68 as well as Fiscal Year 2026 Accounts Payable invoices in the amount of $669,674.27.
The next Sylacauga City Council work session and meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026.
