SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met on Tuesday night, Aug. 5 after a work session which began at 5:00 p.m.
At the meeting, the city council approved the Off-Premises Retail Beer and Wine license for Feroz Devani at 1001 N Broadway Ave. and 804 W Ft. Williams St.
The council approved Resolution #49-2025 concerning the Section 5311 agreement for Services for FY 2026-2028 and updated Title VI Policy for Transportation.
Mayor Jim Heigl was authorized to sign a construction contract with MJ Brooks and Son for the proposed Pickleball/Basketball Court Project.
Authorization was granted for the remaining payments owed to Tim Epperson.
The Mayor was also authorized to seek proposals for the resurfacing of Boat Dock Ln.
The council authorized a 60-month lease with Ricoh for copier/printer services for all city departments at a cost of $1,270.27 per month.
Approval was given for a budget amendment for hiring a temporary City Secretary through Tempforce in the Mayor’s Office at a pay rate of $20.25 per hour. The total dollar amount for the temporary employee is not to exceed $6,480.
Another budget amendment was approved, one totaling $9,967.75 for Alexander Hyde legal fees.
The Special Event License for Madison Lykes’s event at Noble Park, scheduled for Nov. 1, 2025, was approved.
Accounts Payable invoices for July, totaling $219,020.59, and the July 2025 payroll in the amount of $555,854.70 were both approved.
The City Council, Mayor Heigl, and City Attorney Win Livingston entered into an executive session prior to concluding the meeting.
The next Sylacauga City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 6:00 p.m.
