SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Fire Department will soon have a new training facility for its staff.

At its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday night, the Sylacauga Council permitted SFD to utilize the Mountain View School property as an employee training facility.

The training facility will provide SFD with a starting point to begin required training for the fire department.

“Hopefully, the eventual goal is to do live fire training from there,” said SFD Chief Nate Osgood. “We want to be able to host sit down classes, rope rescue classes, confined space rescue classes and the whole gamble.
