SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Christmas Parade is an event anticipated by most in the Marble City, but this year make sure you are in the right spot to view the parade.
According to Laura Strickland, the route for the parade has changed. Strickland is the Executive Director of the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce.
The parade is now set to begin on Broadway Ave. at Sylacauga High School and travel south. It will then turn right onto W. Fort Williams St., and then make an immediate right onto N. Norton Ave. The parade will continue North and conclude on the rear side of Sylacauga High School.
“We are so excited to have the opportunity to celebrate this glorious season with our community by providing a Christmas Parade! We can’t think of a better way to set the tone for Christmas than a parade. It’s a tradition in Sylacauga,” explained Strickland. “We chose the theme of Merry Christmas Sylacauga this year as we didn’t want to limit the creativity of our participants in choosing the theme of their float. We have over 60 entries in the parade with 23 of those being floats. Each year they surpass the previous year with their creativity and design! We have some very talented people in Sylacauga. There are a number of churches, businesses, and organizations represented in the parade. We also have our local horse riders and of course, Santa Claus will conclude the parade.”
The annual Sylacauga Christmas Parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9. According to Strickland, there will be hot chocolate and chili served along the route.
