SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga High School Choral Department is preparing for a summer camp for students in East Central Alabama.
However, it’s no ordinary summer camp.
The Spotlight Show Choir Camp 2017 is geared for students to experience the performing arts this summer.
“We are excited to host a show choir camp to the students of our area. We are extending the invitation to any student that may be interested in becoming a performer,” said director of choral music, Martez Tidwell.
Groups of students in grades 3-5 and 6-12 will have the opportunity to work with professional choreographers and vocal coaches. Students from across Talladega county and surrounding areas are encouraged to participate.
“There are so many students in our surrounding area that aren’t afforded the opportunity to sing in a school choir or to learn to be performers,” said Tidwell.
From May 22-26, Tidwell said students will learn different songs, dances and all they need to know about performing on stage. At the end of the week, a performance will be held.
“This camp is designed to get students out of their shells and help them to discover their hidden talents,” said Tidwell.
