MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce joined other chamber leaders from across the state on Wednesday, March 5, for the inaugural Chamber Day at the Capitol, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama.
Chamber staff Laura Strickland, Nicole Rudd, and Renee Osborne, along with board members Kimm Wright, Rosa Butts, and Ryan Coleman, represented Sylacauga at the event, which drew more than 125 chamber professionals, volunteer leaders, and community advocates from 40 chambers of commerce.
The gathering provided an opportunity for chamber representatives to engage with Alabama legislators on key issues affecting local businesses and communities.
The day’s agenda included addresses from Alabama Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, Senate Pro Tem Garlan Gudger, and Speaker of the House Nathanial Ledbetter. Attendees also participated in a discussion led by Kyle South, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, featuring House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels and Senator Josh Carnley.
Participants later visited lawmakers at the Alabama State House, gaining firsthand insight into policy discussions. The event concluded with remarks from Gov. Kay Ivey at the Alabama State Capitol.
“Chamber Day at the Capitol could not have been better,” said Sylacauga Chamber President and CEO Laura Strickland. “There was such great representation of Alabama Chambers of Commerce from all over the state. We were proud to represent Sylacauga in front of Gov. Ivey and State Representatives.”
Anna Hovey, chairwoman of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama and president and CEO of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, noted the event’s importance in strengthening collaboration between business leaders and legislators.
“Our Chambers of Commerce across Alabama tirelessly work for the betterment of the communities they serve and for our state as a whole,” Hovey said. “It was an honor to bring that message and reminder to Montgomery.”
