SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce is launching a collective community project titled “Positively Sylacauga” in Sylacauga.
The Positively Sylacauga project encourages unity, support, and resiliency for the people and businesses of Sylacauga during and after the impact of COVID-19.
The 2020 Class of Leadership Sylacauga, a program of the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce, created Positively Sylacauga for their community project in response to the mandated shutdown of local businesses due to COVID-19.
Promotion of Positively Sylacauga consists of visual advertisements in businesses and social media outlets. The most prominent visual promotion are the 32 brightly-colored light pole banners to be installed on Broadway Avenue and Norton Avenue. Local businesses in Sylacauga will participate in this campaign by placing posters and window decals in storefront windows as well as other in-store promotional items.
“The leadership exhibited by the current class solidifies why they were chosen by their organization to participate,” said Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Laura Strickland. “Their love for our community and region coupled with the opportunity to work in unison with businesses in our community, has created this amazing campaign. We are excited to share Positively Sylacauga with the community.“
Each class of Leadership Sylacauga participates in a community project to benefit the Sylacauga region. The 2020 Class of Leadership Sylacauga decided it was time to initiate a movement that would stir positive conversation and unity within the community. What started as only installing posters in vacant storefronts evolved into a greater project after the class saw the impact of COVID-19 on local businesses and families.
Sylacauga businesses were contacted by the Chamber to participate in Positively Sylacauga by installing the promotional items inside their businesses. The Chamber encourages businesses to stand united with each other as the Sylacauga region focuses on taking safe and healthy precautions with reopening. Several businesses have already opted into the campaign and have installed their promotions inside their place of business.
A facebook page, Positively Sylacauga, was created to celebrate local businesses and encourage families to shop local.
The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce provides leadership and promotes the economic advancement, business climate, and quality of life for the City of Sylacauga and surrounding areas. Since 1939, the Chamber has aimed to be the voice of business members to make Sylacauga the best place to live, work and play.
