HomeLocalSylacauga Cal Ripken 2021 season underwaySylacauga Cal Ripken 2021 season underwayTue, April 13, 2021 by SylacaugaNews.com Digital TeamSHARE NOW SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga Cal Ripken kicked off its 2021 season on Monday, April 5.Opening Ceremonies began with Miss Sylacauga, Ibby Dickson singing the National Anthem and ASHAA Hall of Fame Baseball Coach, Eddie Varnadore throwing out the first pitch.Sylacauga Cal Ripken has 4 Major League teams ages 11-12, 4 Minor League teams ages 9-10, 6 Rookie League teams ages 7-8 and 7 T-ball teams ages 5-6. Bambino has 4 teams ages 3-4.Major League, Minor League and Rookie league will have an end of the year double elimination tournament starting second week of May to determine the League Champions. All age groups will have an opportunity to play in the Cal Ripken District 5 Tournament on June 11. The top teams from each district will have a chance to advance to Cal Ripken State Tournament on the weekend of June 25.District 5 is made up of Sylacauga, Talladega, Childersburg, Alex City, Phenix City and Smith Station teams.This year’s Cal Ripken Board Members are Eric Howell and Wes Butler for Major League, BJ Childress for Minor League, Chase Fowler for Rookie League and Anthony Jacks for T-ball.
