SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Board of Education honored outgoing board member Mrs. Amy Price at the June regular board meeting earlier this week.
Price, who has served on the Sylacauga City Schools (SCS) Board of Education for a decade, received a plaque and flowers from 2024 Sylacauga High School (SHS) Valedictorian, Natalie Robinson.
During her tenure, Price served as an officer for six years, including three years as Vice President and three years as President. She played a pivotal role in initiating the Health Science Internship Program partnership between Sylacauga High School and Coosa Valley Medical Center as well as updating the school board policies in 2023.
Price’s contributions extend beyond the school board.
She served on the SCS Foundation Board, the B.B. Comer Library Board of Directors, the Sylacauga High School Dual Enrollment Advisory Council, the CTE Health Science Advisory, and the SCS Strategic Planning Steering Committee.
In 2016, she was appointed by former Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley to a nine-year term on the Alabama Commission on Higher Education and previously served on the Alabama Board of Nursing from 2009-2016.
Price expressed thankfulness for the full support over the years from her husband, Dale, and their daughters, Lily Frances and Catherine.
“Thank you, Mrs. Price, for all the hard work you put in and for leaving Sylacauga City Schools better than you found it,” said the board in a statement.
