SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Main Street Family Urgent Care will host its annual Bark in the Park event on June 3.
Each year, the clinic partners with the Sylacauga Animal Shelter to put shelter animals in homes with loving families. According to Main Street Family Urgent Care marketing director Betsy Stewart, last year’s event was a huge success. She said last year’s Bark in the Park was able to generate an entire month of adoptions in a matter of hours.
“We were very excited about the results from last year, and we hope to to have similar results this year,” said Stewart. “Helping the shelter and getting animals into a forever home is important.”
The shelter will need similar results this year. Shelter kennel technician Connie Willette said the shelter is over crowded and it is counting on members of the community to come out and adopt. In total, the shelter currently plays host to 130 animals. Willette told SylacaugaNews.com there are 103 dogs and 27 cats in the shelter at this time. Many of these animals are considered to be puppies and kittens.
“We really need another day like we had last year,” Willette said. “We had a day full of adoptions at Bark in the Park last year, and we are looking forward to having a day like that again.”
Bark in the Park is also an event for those who are not looking to make an addition to their family. Stewart told SylacaugaNews.com there will be many activities for children and families. The event will feature inflatables for children, Thomas the Train, vendors such as Sno Biz, and more. “This will be a great time for families to come out and enjoy a day with each other,” Steward explained.
Bark in the Park is changing locations this year to Noble Park. You can enjoy all the fun on Saturday, June 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information visit the Bark in the Park Facebook page.
