KELLYTON, Ala. – Tramaine Dasean Grandison was arrested and charged with murder and first-degree theft in connection with the May 1 shooting of David Tyrell Benson on Coosa County Rd. 93.
Coosa County deputies and Coosa EMS responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired and found Benson, 27, lying on the road. The Cottage Grove resident was taken to a hospital where he later died, prompting a homicide investigation by the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, May 30, Sheriff Howell and his team, assisted by the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI), executed a search warrant in Montgomery. Evidence related to the case was seized, leading to Grandison’s arrest.
“This is a tragic event for the Cottage Grove community,” Sheriff Howell stated in a press release. “My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family and friends of David Tyrell Benson.”
Grandison is currently held in the Coosa County Jail without bond, and this case is still in the midst of an ongoing investigation.
