EQUALITY, Ala. – A Coosa County man has been arrested after stabbing another man in the community of Equality on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
At approximately 11:40 a.m. on Jan. 24, staff at Russell Medical Center (RMC) in Alexander City notified the Coosa County Dispatch Center that a patient suffering from stab wounds had been admitted to the RMC emergency room.
The victim was identified as 33-year old male Corey Thomas Kilpatrick of Elmore County. After being seen at RMC, Kilpatrick was transferred to UAB Hospital for further treatment.
Investigators with the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office began their search for a suspect soon afterwards.
They learned that the victim was stabbed at a location on Coosa County Rd. 98 which is in the small community of Equality.
On Wednesday, Jan. 25, the purported suspect was found.
Equality resident William Michael Smith, 31, was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder.
Smith is currently booked in the Coosa County Jail.
