SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga man is dead after being stabbed on Sunday.
SPD was dispatched to the area of Goodwater Highway (Co. Rd. 511) and Peavy Hill at 1 p.m. in reference to a person lying in the roadway.
Kevin Deshawn Chatman, 34, suffered from an apparent stab wound to his stomach. Chatman was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery to try and save his life. At approximately 8 p.m. Chatman was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Chatman’s body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsy.
Investigators from Sylacauga Police Department along with agents from the Talladega County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force are actively working this case. SPD urges anyone with information about this case to come forward.
