SYLACAUGA, Ala. – One man is dead after a Sunday evening shooting in Sylacauga.
At approximately 6 p.m. SPD officers were dispatched to 413 N. Nashville Ave., in the Buttermilk Hill community in reference to a person being shot.
Officers arrived on the scene to find Gary Earl Stone Jr., 30, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers from SPD and Talladega County Sheriff’s Office began CPR until medical personnel arrived on the scene.
Stone was pronounced dead on at the scene by Talladega County Coroner, Shaddix Murphy.
Stone’s remains were transported to the Talladega County Coroner’s office and is awaiting transport to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
Stone was a native of Sylacauga but resided in Montgomery.
Investigators from Sylacauga Police Department along with agents from the Talladega County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force are actively working this case. SPD urges anyone with information about this case to come forward.
