SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Country Club was the site on Saturday, June 10, for the Boys’ Club of Sylacauga’s annual golf tournament.
The weather was fantastic and a great time was had by all.
The Boys’ Club holds one big fundraiser to help with their operating costs for the year. The Boys’ Club is home for a lot of young men for the summer and after school to give them a place for activities, stability, mentoring, and safety.
The structured environment also provides these boys an outlet for staying out of trouble and teaches them the priority of getting along with others while having a little fun in the process.
The Club also has a Board of Directors that meet to help in raising funds, but this golf tournament is the front runner every year.
Each golfer played 18 holes, enjoyed a barbecue lunch, but most of all, had a lot of fun.
Director Jody Brooks said, “The Boys’ Club could not function without this event, and we certainly appreciate all the support of the community, businesses, and the golfers who make it happen. The Country Club has been a great partner, and we had a great turnout and raised a lot of buzz and money that will payoff dividends for the Club. Former members, board members, business owners and managers, as well as the community makes this a great event.”
Jody took over the Club after a monumental Director and his father, Harold Brooks, who the Sylacauga Boys’ Club is now named after.
Harold made an appearance and is shown in the picture at the top along with Steve Persons and Jody.
Harold said, “There are so many people in this community that makes the Boys’ Club a priority and success. They made my job a little easier and certainly made a difference in the life of young men, and I’m glad to see it continuing for Jody and the Club.”
