TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – Average household incomes are rising throughout most of the state of Alabama, including Talladega County.
Statistics from the United States Census Bureau show that Talladega County has seen tremendous growth since 2010.
In 2010, the median household income was just below $34,500. That number grew to over $40,300 when a study was completed following the year 2018. For comparison, the state of Alabama averaged a household income of just under $50,000 in the 2018 study.
Sylacauga comes in below the county’s average with the median average of $37,755. Although below the state average, Sylacauga’s average income has grown over $3,000 from $34,236 since 2010. In 2017, the average sat at $35,568.
Surrounding counties have comparable numbers to Sylacauga and Talladega County. Coosa County’s average household income comes in at $38,301. Ten years ago Coosa County sat at $35,560.
Clay County now has an average household income of $41,225. That number was $35,595 in 2010. St. Clair County is up to $56,602, up from $48,316. Shelby County was at $65,673 in 2010. Now Shelby County sits at $71,230. Calhoun sits at $45,818, a rise from $36,675 in 2010. Lastly of the bordering counties, Cleburne County was at $36,077. Now, the county has risen to $40,188.
