SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Residents across the state of Alabama are continuing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, pushing Alabama one step closer to gaining herd immunity.
According to the Alabama Department of Public’s Health COVID-19 vaccine distribution dashboard, there has been 3,504,865 doses distributed to the state of Alabama.
The state of Alabama has administered 2,244,860 vaccinations.

According to Public Health officials, 72% of the population need to either be exposed to the virus or vaccinated to help reach herd immunity. For Alabama, this means the 3.5 million people need to have immunity, or masks could be the new normal. Alabama is nearly halfway to the herd immunity vaccination goal.
While masks are not required in the state of Alabama, it is encouraged that individuals continue wearing masks and practice social distancing.
Remember to wash your hands, properly wear masks in public, keep your hands away from your face, and continue to practice three-feet social distancing.
