SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Police Department confirmed with SylacaugaNews.com a firearm was discharged at the Sylacauga Walmart on Hwy. 280 Saturday night.

SPD Chief Kelley Johnson said “initial reports are self-inflicted gunshot wound.” The individual was flown to UAB for further treatment.

The gender nor identity of the individual involved has been released.

UPDATE: June 12

Johnson confirmed the individual was 19-year-old Christopher Aaron Lee from Montgomery.

Johnson said Lee shot himself in the head and later died from the wound after being flown to UAB.
