SPD Chief: Intoxicated driver transported to hospital after Monday morning crash

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Monday morning crash sent an elderly man to the hospital.

The Sylacauga Police and Fire departments responded to a EMS alert at 10:38 Monday morning after a crash at the intersection of W. Fort Williams St. and Hwy. 280.

According to Police Chief Kelley Johnson, the unidentified driver was driving east on Hwy. 280 when the car left the roadway.

Upon investigation, first responders learned the elderly man was heavily intoxicated.

The driver was transported to the hospital, and the extent of injuries, if any, are unknown.

No charges against the driver have been filed.
