SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Police Department has arrested two people after a massive amount of heroine was found during a traffic stop.
On April 27, SPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Donald Ray Adams, Jr., a 28-year-old male from Sylacauga, who already had a warrant out for his arrest. The search was conducted on Spring Valley Rd. near Pine Hill Cir. A 56-year-old female, Elizabeth Ann Long, was a passenger in the vehicle.
During the search, SPD found over 50 grams of heroine in the vehicle. For perspective, four grams is enough to charge someone for trafficking.
The duo’s charges include Drug Trafficking (Heroin), Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute (Cocaine), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Tramadol), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Prescription Drugs Without a Prescription.
The bond in the case was set by Judge Fannin at $100,000 dollars for each defendant.
Trafficking heroin is a Class A Felony and if found guilty carries a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.
Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force are preparing the cases for prosecution.
