SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Police Department says it has arrested James Ray Corbin. Corbin is a 60-year-old, black male, from Sylacauga.
SPD has charged Corbin with Burglary 3rd Degree and Using False Identity to Obstruct Justice. Both charges are Class “C” felonies.
SPD stated Corbin allegedly entered to The First United Methodist Church of Sylacauga on Jan. 29, 2021. While inside the church, Corbin is accused of taking a small amount of money and checks belonging to the church.
Corbin was interviewed near the same church after another reported burglary, and gave officers a false identification. SPD says Corbin used false identification, because he had a warrant issued for his arrest for probation violation on another burglary charge that occurred in the city of Sylacauga back 2018.
Corbin was transported to the Talladega County Jail and is currently being held without bond until he makes his initial appearance before a Talladega County Judge.
