SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A new manager for the Sylacauga branch of Southern States Bank has been announced.
Lacy Edwards has been in the banking field for 20 years, nine of those with Southern States Bank, and now she is getting her chance to manage the Sylacauga branch located on Fort Williams St.
“My new role will be to effectively and efficiently supervise staff to provide excellent service to our bank’s customers,” said Edwards. “I will also ensure that all staff members are trained and understand the importance of policies, procedures, and processes related to the branch’s operation.”
After graduating Sylacauga High School, Edwards accepted a bank teller position at a credit union. She worked there for 11 years before moving to Southern States Bank.
In her career, she has worked all over the banking field as a customer service rep, in the Collections department, as a loan processor, and then as a loan officer before being promoted to branch manager.
It’s a role that, according to Edwards, fills her with a “sense of pride and accomplishment.”
“The validation of my hard work feels great. Hard work really does pay off,” reiterated Edwards.
Having spent nine years with the company, Edwards knows the ins and outs of Southern States Bank. As manager she hopes to introduce more cross-department training to help provide extra position strength and flexibility within the branch.
[At Southern States Bank], I am treated with respect and given daily encouragement,” Edwards said. “I feel valued for what I bring to the bank. Being happy at work and loving what you do is an overall productivity booster. People who enjoy their jobs are more likely to be optimistic, motivated, learn faster, make fewer mistakes, and make better business decisions.”Edwards is married to her husband, Mitch, and they have one son, Talen. In her free time, Lacy enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, the outdoors, and riding around in their golf cart.
