SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Southern Dance and Performing Arts Company will hold auditions next week for its upcoming production of Anastasia: The Musical. Auditions are set for Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 10-11, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the SDPAC studios.
Those auditioning for lead roles should prepare a 60- to 90-second monologue and a short solo song with accompaniment. Recorded tracks may be used, but they must not include vocals on the lead line.
All auditionees will also participate in a cold reading from the script and a brief dance audition, so performers are encouraged to wear clothing suitable for movement.
Based on the 1997 animated film, Anastasia: The Musical follows Anya, an amnesiac orphan in 1920s Russia, who joins two con men in a journey to Paris to discover if she is the lost Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov.
SDPAC, a program under the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement, has provided performing arts education for nearly 20 years. For more details or to sign up, visit sdpac.net.
