FAYETTEVILLE, Ala. – Coach John Limbaugh is entering his 11th season as the head coach of the Fayetteville Wolves.
When asked about being the longest tenured coach in the county he said, “well David I guess I’m getting old and there is a lot of forgiving people in the Fayetteville community. But we are a family of great parents and kids here, and are looking forward to the 2022 season.”
The Wolves have had a great summer competing in many 7 on 7 camps, where they were surprisingly successful after losing a good group of seniors from the last year. Summer workouts have really ramped up with the addition of a brand new fieldhouse and weightroom. The new facility also includes offices and conference room for coaches. Look for Fayetteville to be stronger and in better physical condition on the gridiron in 2022.
New coaches on the staff this year include quarterbacks coach Matt Collier, receivers coach Josh Podoris, and offensive line coach Mark Northcutt. And the veterans at Fayetteville include Jason Jacks, Matt Moore, and defensive coordinator Mark Reed. Coach Limbaugh has a lot of confidence in a very well put together and experienced staff.
The Wolves will field about 30 players including Zeke DeLoach, and Hunter Hammonds who will anchor a great deal of the football distribution this season. The Wolves will operate, at least for a while, with a two quarterback rotating system. The defense will be led by returning starter and leading tackler from last season Atticus Jacks.
“Our goals are to get better every week, play as a team, and share the football in 2022”, says Limbaugh. The Wolves play in class 2A Region 4 and open the season on Aug 19 at home against Randolph County.
