SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Talladega Ranger District is planning to burn 825 acres Wednesday, 4 miles east of Sylacauga.
Alabama Hwy. 148, County Road 231 (Trammel Motorway), Forest Service Roads 603, 603A and 603B form portions of this burn boundary and should be traveled with caution. During Wednesday’s burn, the public will notice Forest Service fire crews and equipment along County Road 231 and Hwy. 148. Smoke will be visiblr from the Sylacauga area.
The wind is expected to be out of the north and carry the smoke south towards the Stewartville area. As temperatures cool later today, the smoke will begin to settle down a tributary of Tallaseehatchee Creek across Hwy. 148 towards Lake Howard. Some smoke setting may occur around the general area of the burn on County Road 231 and Forest Service Road 603. Electronic warning will be posted on Hwy. 148. If encountering smoke on roadways, slow down, turn on your low-beam head lights and use caution.
