Six local athletes earn all-state football honors

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – There was truly some very good football played on Friday nights in south Talladega County this year.

This weekend the Alabama Sports Writers Association released its all-state football teams, and six local players made the cut,

Winterboro’s Troy McKinney made the 1A Honorable Mention team as an athlete, while Jashaslin James made the 1A Second Team on offense.

The B.B. Comer Tigers landed two players on the Class 2A First Team. Kamore Harris landed on the First Team Offense, and John Murphy Landed on the First Team defense.

Sylacauga landed two players on the Class 5A Second team. Jeremy Odem landed on the Second Team defense as a defensive back, and Maleek Pope earned honors as a Second Team all-state running back.
