Severe weather impacts local blood supply

SHARE NOW

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  Multiple tornadoes barreled through the state of Alabama on Thursday, impacting the blood supply throughout Alabama.

LifeSouth urges the community to help, by donating blood. Blood drive cancellations, due to the severe weather have left local hospitals in emergency need for blood.

Donors can stop by LifeSouth’s Birmingham or Tuscaloosa donor centers and help support their community during this difficult time.

All blood types are crucial to help make sure hospitals have the blood needed to treat traumas and patients requiring blood transfusions. LifeSouth is Alabama’s #1 Blood Provider, providing 80% of the blood used in the state.

Please visit the LifeSouth website, to find a bloodmobile in your area.
