Senior Night a success at Childersburg as Tigers take down Tarrant

SHARE NOW

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Senior night was a huge success on the hardwood Tuesday night at the Childersburg Performing Arts and Sports Arena.

The girls’ team got the party started with a dismantling of a Tarrant Lady Wildcat team in an overwhelming victory of 64-7.

Then three cheerleaders, two lady basketball players, and seven boys’ team seniors were all honored with their families, receiving gifts in front of a large crowd.

After the seniors were honored, the 19-4 Childersburg Tigers took to the floor.

Tarrant actually shot well in the first quarter as it ended with the Tigers holding a four point lead, 19-15. A nine point lead at the break gave the coaching staff ammunition to challenge this team.

They responded with defense, Jordan Mann caught fire from outside the arc, and it became apparent that Tarrant would fall in a 74-40 loss to Childersburg.

Jordan Mann led the Tigers with 26 points, followed by 16 from Isaac Marbury, and 13 points from Kordes Swain.

The Tigers are now 20-4, and that’s important because Head Coach Johnny Johnson is in his seventh season at the helm of this program. He has compiled 20 wins every year. That’s very impressive.

Coach Johnson responded about it in the postgame interview on the Tiger Sports Network by saying, “We have had a lot of great players here, and I have a tremendous coaching staff and support system. I am excited for the kids because they have bought in to what we are trying to do.”

Another award was handed out as well as senior Isaac Marbury joined an exclusive club by scoring his 1000th point against TCCHS in the Talladega County tournament. He was honored with this award last night.
