SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Area seniors are invited to celebrate National Senior Citizens Day during the Senior Citizens Extravaganza, a colorful community event planned for Friday, Aug. 21 at the J. Craig Smith Community Center’s gym.
Hosted by Sylacauga Parks and Recreation and the Maxye Veazey Senior Center, the event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and feature this year’s theme, “Living Life in Full Color.”
Organizers are encouraging attendees to wear their favorite color of the rainbow and take part in a day focused on fun, fellowship, and community recognition.
The celebration will include bingo, giveaways, vendor booths, entertainment, and special performances. Recognition will also be given to outstanding members of the local senior community during a Senior Spotlight presentation.
One of the event’s featured activities will be the Color Rally, where participants can showcase their colorful outfits and team spirit. A prize will be awarded to the group with the best coordinated color scheme.
In addition to the activities and entertainment, lunch will be provided for all registered attendees.
Officials say the event is designed to bring seniors together for a memorable day of connection, laughter, and celebration while honoring their contributions to the community.
The Senior Citizens Extravaganza is free and open to area seniors. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Thursday, Aug. 13.
