SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The stage is set as SAFE’s Southern Dance and Performing Arts Company introduces the Annie KIDS Theatre Camp, hosting three weeks of theatrical magic for budding performers ages 8-14.
Directed by Keeghan Messer and Shaylyn Vick, the camp, running from Monday, June 3 to Saturday, June 22, offers a comprehensive curriculum covering acting, dancing, and singing.
With sessions scheduled every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., participants will undergo 36 hours of theatrical instruction, culminating in public performances on Friday and Saturday, June 21-22.
The $175 fee includes not only instruction but also a script, costume, cast shirt, and the opportunity to shine on stage.
Sponsored by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and Air Experts Heating & Cooling, the camp, a product of the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement (SAFE), ensures a nurturing environment where roles are assigned without auditions as the directors will cast during the first week of class.
Inspired by the beloved comic strip, Annie KIDS is an uplifting tale of resilience and hope where little Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage.
