SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Alabama Arts Education License Plate Advisory Committee has approved a grant to the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement (SAFE) in the amount of $2,000 to assist with its 2024-25 theatre season.
The committee is pleased to be able to provide support for programs that will enhance arts education and the arts in Alabama.
This is the fourth grant that Southern Dance and Performing Arts Company, the performing arts program of SAFE, has been awarded from the “Support the Arts License Tag Grant” fund.
The funds will help produce the three shows planned for the 2024-25 season: Little Women, The Wind and the Willows, and Disney’s Aladdin Kids.
Amy McDonald, SDPAC spokesperson, said, “SDPAC is grateful for our supporters, like the Alabama Arts Education License Plate Advisory Committee. Without sponsors, SAFE’s Southern Dance and Performing Arts Company theatre season would not be possible. If you enjoy attending or participating in the arts, please purchase the ‘Support the Arts’ license plate, since that is the funding source for the grant.”
Over 4,500 individuals attended last year’s shows, including approximately 1,500 students. Many audience members travelled more than an hour to attend a production while shopping, dining, and lodging in our near Sylacauga during their visit.
Public performance dates for SDPAC’s next show, Little Women, will be Oct. 17-19 and 25-26. School performance dates will be Oct. 22 and 24. All performances will be at B.B. Comer High School auditorium.
Registration for 2023-24 dance and theatre classes, ages two and up, is ongoing at sdpac.net or by calling (256) 245-1669.
