SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Jimmy Reynolds Jr. has officially been removed for the Republican Primary ballot, leaving Ben Robbins as the only Republican candidate.
Here’s a message from Reynolds.
“To the citizens of Alabama House District 33: My name is Jimmy Reynolds, Jr. On Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, I qualified as a Republican candidate to replace the late Ron Johnson in a special election to be held on Jan. 19, 2021. On Sunday, Aug. 9, I took part in a lengthy GOP hearing to determine my status as a Republican. The Steering Committee voted to remove my name from the ballot that evening. Obviously, I disagree with their decision.I have faithfully voted Republican since the first year of my eligibility to vote in 1986. My political platform solidly aligns with the traditional conservative principles of fiscal responsibility and constitutional conservatism. If an unwavering belief in the rights of the unborn and staunch support of our nation’s 2nd amendment doesn’t make you “Republican”, what does? Regardless, my values will remain the same. Thank you to my friends and neighbors who offered both encouragement and support.”
With Ben Robbins being the only name on the Republican ballot, there will not be a Republican Primary election.
