Resolute Forest Products’ Coosa Pines Mill hosts annual golf tournament supporting abused children

HOOVER, Ala. – Resolute Forest Products Coosa Pines Mill hosted the 25th annual Log-a-Load golf tournament supporting Children’s Hospital Intervention and Prevention Services (CHIPS) at Greystone Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.

Since the fundraiser’s inception in 1994, the Resolute’s Coosa Pines Mill has helped raise more than $462,000. After this year’s tournament, the 25-year total donation to CHIPS is expected to be close to $500,000.

According to its website, since 1995, the CHIPS Center at Children’s of Alabama is an outpatient center for children that have experienced abuse.

“Thank God there are people out there willing to take care of these kids, and we will raise the money to make their jobs successful,” said Pat Hogg, the Coosa Pines mill plant manager. “It means a lot to the Coosa Pines facility and Resolute Forest Products. Obviously, we are in the forest products business, and anything we can do to help out local communities, the local hospitals, and the local organizations, we like to do so.”

Hogg said 144 golfers registered to play in the event hosted at Greystone’s Legacy Course.

“It’s a wonderful thing,” Hogg said. “We work hard every year. The last several years it’s been increasing. The facility makes it an easy draw because a lot of people don’t get to play at a private country club as beautiful as Greystone here in the Birmingham area. We are thankful we are able to have the opportunity and it means a lot to us.”

Hogg said the relationship between Children’s of Alabama and Resolute Forest Products Coosa Pines Mill is of great value to the company and the community.

Resolute Forest Products Coosa Pines Mill is the network sponsor for the Tiger Sports Network on KiX 100.3. Since 2018, Resolute Forest Products has been the network’s premier sponsor investing great effort back into the Childersburg community by supporting Childersburg High School athletics.

“We are proud to be the primary sponsor for the Tiger Sports Network here in Childersburg,” Hogg said. “It’s a huge value. We spend a lot of time doing public relations. We want to be a good soldier, a good valued customer of the local communities. We think that is a huge value.”

The tournament started with a putting competition to win a free round of golf with more than 150 golfers putting for the hole at once. Check out the video and pictures below.
