SYLACAUGA, Ala. – In February, the City of Sylacauga signed a new garbage collection contract with GFL Environmental of Alpine, ending service with the previous provider, Republic Services.
Although the City’s residential waste collection agreement with Republic Services ended on March 31, Republic has not yet retrieved all of its containers.
The City has directed Republic to complete removal without further delay, and a company representative has advised that they will do so between now and July 2.
Residents are asked to make sure that any Republic Services/Waste Pro containers are readily available at their curb as soon as possible.
The company will not remove containers from private property.
