SYLACAUGA, Ala. – If you have had any trouble with trash pick-up recently in the Sylacauga area, it may be because Republic Services has modified some of its routes and pick-up days.
Republic Services is responsible for weekly residential garbage pickup in Sylacauga, and is also responsible for emptying more than 7,000 business and residential waste containers at locations with Sylacauga addresses.

There have been no changes to recycling or curbside debris pickup. Businesses, apartment complexes and people outside the city limits independently contract for garbage services.
The City of Sylacauga offers some tips and requirements for the Sylacauga Residential Garbage service:
- all items for pick-up should be at the curb prior to 6:00 a.m. on the day of pick-up
- make sure the carts are turned with the handle facing away from the street
- the green can with blue lid is for trash
- the green can with green lid is for recycling
