SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The RadioAlabama network seeks to build greater working and professional relationships with our region’s best and brightest high school students.
The goal of the RadioAlabama School Ambassador Program is to cultivate, build, and maintain connections with up-and-coming area high school students along with helping our media outlets inform the public about their school’s events, activities, and sports. Student ambassadors will contribute to the RadioAlabama multimedia platforms including radio, video, online, and social media along with occasional opportunities to earn cash commissions as part of strategic sales efforts.
“When it comes to helping cultivate real-world communication, journalism, and marketing skills in students, we couldn’t be more excited,” said Michael Brannon, Executive Vice President of RadioAlabama. “All of us here at RadioAlabama agree: if we had these opportunities when we were in high school, we would have taken every opportunity. By opening our workplace, and even workflow to a certain extent, to our qualified student ambassadors, we are allowing them to network, learn, and be a step ahead some of their peers when they enter college or the workforce.”
Applicants must have a desire to enter the communications, journalism, sales, or marketing fields. Students must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and outgoing personality. Student ambassadors will learn real-life skills from RadioAlabama’s award-winning team of journalists, sales professionals, and broadcasters.
The RadioAlabama School Ambassador Program is open to one student each from Sylacauga, B.B. Comer, Fayetteville, Winterboro, and Childersburg, in grades 10-12, between August – May each year. Students may re-apply annually.
Each student ambassador will be awarded a $1,500 cash scholarship at the end of their internship. Together, the student ambassadors will create a unique service project during their internship.
Ambassadors will receive RadioAlabama apparel to be worn responsibly, headshot and bio on the RadioAlabama website, and expected to commit an average of five hours per week with assigned duties. Ambassadors may be asked to
• attend special RadioAlabama events and promotions
• interact on social media
• communicate with clients
• contribute to RadioAlabama platforms weekly about school-related and sporting events
Ambassadorships are available for the balance of this school year for a prorated amount and for the full 2021-2022 school year.
