SYLACAUGA, Ala. – RadioAlabama and SylacaugaNews.com have confirmed this year’s scholarship program to help area high school seniors with upcoming college expenses. Cash scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each are being funded for a student at Sylacauga High School, B.B. Comer Memorial High School, Childersburg High School, and Fayetteville High School.
Although the intent is to recognize academic achievement, a broader purpose is to reward integrity, leadership, initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, communication skills, and community involvement. A qualifying applicant must be a resident of Talladega County and a graduating senior with a current-year grade point average equivalent to 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and accepted for enrollment in a two- or four-year college, university, or trade school.
Since its inception and through this year, the program will have made over $15,000 available to more than 25 graduates.
Completed applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8. Details are available from principals or guidance counselors at each school.
Based in Sylacauga, the RadioAlabama network is comprised of seven radio signals in East Central Alabama, with additional stations under construction. SylacaugaNews.com is its affiliated online news service.
