TALLADEGA, Ala. – A Talladega County jury today found Quartez Lamar Walker guilty of second-degree assault in the September 2016 beating of Brian Ogle. Sentencing was set for Sept. 25.
Walker had been charged with first- and second-degree assault, and jury deliberations began late Tuesday. He was earlier denied youthful offender status.
Four suspects faced assault charges related to the incident which took place in Sylacauga, and the first, Bobby Ronchea Brown, was acquitted as a youthful offender in July following a bench trial.
Charges are still pending for Landah Grant Ealy Jr., also certified as a youthful offender, and Davion Shameraya Nix, who will be tried as an adult.
