PRATTVILLE, Ala. – Central Alabama Community College has announced a significant donation from the Prattville Fire Department, which generously gifted the college a fully equipped ambulance on Monday, March 10. This contribution will be a critical catalyst in addressing future workforce development needs and initiatives at the college, particularly those related to emergency medical services.
Currently, CACC is assessing community and regional demands for emergency medical care and exploring establishing a comprehensive EMS training program. In collaboration with multiple counties within the college’s service area and the Alabama Department of Public Health, the college is identifying training needs and determining effective methods for supporting local communities.
“We deeply appreciate the Prattville Fire Department’s forward-thinking generosity,” stated Jeff Lynn, President of Central Alabama Community College. “This donation represents a pivotal first step as we envision developing future healthcare workforce programs that will address critical community needs and bolster emergency medical preparedness in our region.”
This donation aligns seamlessly with the Rural Healthcare Grant awarded to CACC last year by the Alabama Community College System. This grant enabled the college to acquire two state-of-the-art ambulance simulators. Together, these resources will significantly enhance CACC’s capability to deliver realistic, hands-on training experiences to future students.
Michael Barnette, Dean of CACC’s workforce and economic development programs, emphasized the donation’s importance, saying, “The ambulance will provide practical, real-world training scenarios for our students, ultimately preparing them to serve our communities effectively. We see this as an important step toward our commitment to expanding innovative workforce training initiatives.”
Prattville Fire Chief Josh Bingham noted, “By providing this ambulance to CACC, we are excited to contribute to the development of future workforce initiatives to address our communities’ emergency healthcare needs. We firmly believe this partnership will reinforce our shared commitment to public safety and preparedness.”
