Arrests have been made in Alexander City shooting death

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – Police have made a pair of arrests in connection with a deadly shooting in Alexander City on New Year’s Day.

Alexander City Police officers responded to Parkway Court at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1 in reference to a gunshot victim, finding 29-year-old Jarryl Slaughter, of Wadley, in the parking lot with one apparent gunshot wound.

He was transported to Russell Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

19-year-old Marcus Harden of Eclectic was arrested Monday, Jan. 5 and charged with murder. A second suspect, Roderick Hicks Jr., was also arrested Monday and charged with First Degree Hindering Prosecution in this case.
